In 1977, a young man walked into a Danish pipe factory to begin his first day on the job. Peder Jeppesen was given an apron and a broom before being told to go sweep the floor.

Jeppesen wanted to be taught how to make the marvelous tobacco pipes he saw, but the old masters first wanted to see that he was dedicated enough to learn the correct way of crafting them. Eventually, he would be given lessons on how to properly sand, shape, and carve raw briar into the smoking pipes that everyone enjoys.

Jeppesen would spend his apprenticeship listening to Danish pipe making legends such as Karl Erik Ottendahl and Erik Nørding. They taught the young man what makes a great smoking pipe and how to utilize his creativity to come up with excellent freehand shapes that make one-of-a-kind tobacco pipes.

Eventually, Jeppesen started crafting tobacco pipes for the companies he was working for, building up his reputation and furthering his skills. By 2001, he was able to open up his own shop and created the Neerup brand.

One of the main series under the Neerup name is the Classic line. Jeppesen has managed to create a series that blends traditional shapes with freehand and original designs. He utilizes all different finishes, from smooth light brown to dark sandblasted and many in between. His acrylic stems are multicolored to add a little extra flair for the pipes, so even a similar stummel will look vastly different based on which stem is used on the pipe.

If you pick up a Neerup Classic smoking pipe, you will be picking up an outstanding piece that will look great on your pipe stand and in your rotation. An exceptional collector's piece, these tobacco pipes will serve as an excellent and affordable gift for anyone that is looking for a special tobacco pipe.
